Hi, I’m Dr. Howell, one of the optometrists here at Cascadia Eye.
While talking to patients, some people have reported being nervous about taking eye drops–especially over-the-counter artificial tears–after reading some news reports. These news reports said that there are some over-the-counter eye drops that were contaminated and caused vision loss and even death, so I completely understand being nervous about taking these drops.
I promise you we at Cascadia Eye take these accounts very seriously. And all of these eye drops have been recalled, and there were only two small companies that were making these eye drops.
The eye drops that we have recommended are completely safe, and if you’ve been prescribed your recommended eye drops it’s important to continue taking them.
