Try Some Acts of Kindness This Year
Posted in Practice News

Cascadia Eye is continuously reflecting on ways to support our community and beyond. #GivingTuesday is a reminder of the power of generosity and aligns perfectly with our core values of service and compassion.
We challenge you to join us and get involved this year! Together, we can build a stronger, kinder, more connected community. It can be very simple – choose an act of kindness, one you choose or find one from this handy list taken from GivingTuesday.org and make someone’s day! We’d love to see you in action – take a pic and tag us @CascadiaEye to share the love (and it counts as one of your acts of kindness to make us smile).

Here’s a glimpse into how you can join us in projects we’ve supported in giving back, from our local neighborhoods to the global stage.
Starting in our Community
One of our proudest initiatives is our Excellence in Education Scholarship, which has been supporting students since 2003. Each year, we award two scholarships to high school students pursuing higher education, with the 2024 awards increased to $1,500 each. It’s our way of investing in the future and encouraging the next generation to reach their goals.
Yearly, we share our expert vision care with local un- and under insured at a Free Vision Screening weekend. We partner with EyeWitness Missions, Cascadia Eyewear, Cascadia Surgical and North Cascade Cares, a ministry of North Cascade SDA Church to provide basic vision screenings and eye care, diagnosing medical conditions for future appointments. Our guests are also provided with a free pair of prescription glasses if they need them.
Giving Beyond Borders
Cascadia Eye extends its reach globally through Eyewitness Missions, a non-profit founded and supported by several of our doctors. This organization delivers critical vision care to individuals suffering from cataracts who would otherwise lack access to treatment. By restoring sight, we aim to restore hope and improve quality of life in underserved communities worldwide.
Ongoing Sponsorships and Programs
Our commitment to giving includes a variety of ongoing sponsorships and initiatives, including:
- Terracycle: Recycling contact lens blister packs and plastics into raw materials, creating new products and reducing waste. You can find a donation box in all Cascadia Eye locations. Donate anytime!
- Cascadia Eyewear Specialty Glasses:
- Sales from “Rebel” sunglasses benefit the kids’ Rebel Rec Soccer team.
- Sales from our “CATS” line of frames benefit local animal welfare programs.
- Lions Club Partnerships: Lions clubs all over are very active andour local branches maintain eyeglass collection boxes in all Cascadia locations. Donated glasses are collected and given to those in need.
Charitable Contributions in 2024
In 2024, we proudly contributed to numerous organizations and events, including:
- Whidbey Playhouse, Lincoln Theater’s “LegallyBlonde – the Musical”, Soroptimists, and local youth sports teams.
- Melodic Caring Project and Skagit Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Services.
- MVHS Football and Debate Booster Clubs.
- Many more…
Looking Forward to Giving Throughout the Year
